Richard Verrall is Professor of Actuarial Statistics, Faculty of Actuarial Science & Statistics, and Associate Dean of Cass Business School, City University London. He read Mathematics at St John's College Cambridge, and was awarded an MSc with Distinction by University College London. His PhD from City University was on claims reserving in general insurance, and he has since published many papers both on reserving and on other areas of actuarial science. In 1999 he was made an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.
