Synthetic Aperture Radar (ASR) is one of the most advanced engineering inventions of the 20th century. It offers an economy of space and materials in radar design as well as offering many practical benefits. In fact, Synthetic Aperture Radar Imaging has many commercial and military applications, including typographic imaging of the surface of planets and ocean floors, assessing crop conditions, oil exploration, surveillance and air traffic control, automatic aircraft landing, mine detection, concealed target detection in foliage, medical ultrasonic imaging and many more.

This book concentrates on an important algorithm introduced by the author, the wave number approach to SAR. With this algorithm, it becomes possible to achieve the effects of a large radar antenna with a much smaller one. As such, this technology has many important applications.

  • Includes disc with MATLAB code
  • Features real data, with practical examples, rather than only theory
  • Provides a thorough presentation of the wave number approach to SAR which was patented by the author
